Then a champion named Goliath, from Gath, came out from the Philistine camp. He was nine feet, nine inches tall and wore a bronze helmet and bronze scale armor that weighed 125 pounds. His spear shaft was like a weaver’s beam, and the iron point of his spear weighed 15 pounds. In addition, a shield-bearer was walking in front of him. 1 Samuel 17: 4, 5 & 7 HCSB
Intimidation. It is one of the enemies favorite ploys. He loves to try to show us how BIG he is. He wants to impress us. He comes at us standing nine feet nine inches tall, and wearing armor of 125 pounds. He shows us his 15 pound spear. that he threatens to throw at us.
We always must remember that our God is much bigger! He is the creator of the universe.
Look at the all the stars in the sky.
God is bigger.
Look at the vastness of the ocean.
God is bigger.
Look at the towering mountains.
God is bigger.
Think of anything you can imagine that is huge, extensive, expansive, broad, wide, sweeping, boundless, immeasurable, limitless, infinite; enormous, immense, great, massive, colossal, tremendous, mighty, prodigious, gigantic, gargantuan, mammoth, monumental; giant, astronomical, or ginormous.
God is bigger.
It’s said that, 500 years ago in Germany, Martin Luther was in his study and felt a presence behind him. He remained seated at his desk. It is said that Luther turned around and literally saw the devil standing behind him. Luther looked at him and said, “Oh! It’s just you.” Then he turned back to his desk and went back to work.
He was not impressed.
He was not intimated.
He ignored him.
That’s what we need to do in our lives. Learn to not be impressed or intimidated by the devil. We need to ignore him and therefore saying, “I’m not afraid of you! Just be gone, Satan. My God is bigger!”
Never forget, God is bigger!
