Do It Your Way

And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. 1 Samuel 17:38-39 KJV

Saul’s armor didn’t fit David. Maybe you know how David felt. People may have dreams for you that don’t fit. They may want you to become something different than what you are created to be.

You have a spectacular destiny. But it may look different than what others define as success. They may imply that to be a success you need to be President, or a CEO, or win an Oscar, or pitch in the world series. It’s like trying to dress you up in armor that doesn’t fit.

Your destiny is unique to you. What matters is not that you are doing something that other’s see as grand, but that you are doing what you are passionate about. That you are fulfilling YOUR Vision.

Vision doesn’t mean that you have to own the company, or make millions of dollars. It simply means that you are fulfilling your personal destiny.

Your vision may be to be a stonecutter in a rock quarry, who understands that he is helping to build the grandest cathedral in Europe. You are doing what God created you to do. You have a vision for what it is that God wants you to accomplish and you do it your way.

It takes everyone doing their part for God’s work to get done. You just need to understand what your part is in the big picture vision of what God is doing. Read More

Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 1 Samuel 17:38-39 NIV

This week has been the world cup soccer finals in Brazil. It seems that the whole world has been watching, which brings to mind a soccer story from a friend of mine…

My friend was about nine years old. He was on his soccer team at school, and wanted to help his team win. But he had a big problem. Literally. The soccer shorts that were assigned to him were way too big. He didn’t realize it until the first game when he put on his uniform. His shorts were so big that he had to bunch up the waist and hold them up with his hand.

Have you ever seen someone trying to play soccer while holding up their soccer shorts? He said it was hilarious.

The crowd held their breath as they watched, for they knew  Read More

God is Bigger

Eye Of GodThen a champion named Goliath, from Gath, came out from the Philistine camp. He was nine feet, nine inches tall and wore a bronze helmet and bronze scale armor that weighed 125 pounds. His spear shaft was like a weaver’s beam, and the iron point of his spear weighed 15 pounds. In addition, a shield-bearer was walking in front of him. 1 Samuel 17: 4, 5 & 7 HCSB

Intimidation. It is one of the enemies favorite ploys. He loves to try to show us how BIG he is. He wants to impress us. He comes at us standing nine feet nine inches tall, and wearing armor of 125 pounds. He shows us his 15 pound spear. that he threatens to throw at us.

We always must remember that our God is much bigger! He is the creator of the universe. Read More

Your piece of the puzzle

Find Your Piece of the Heart of God Puzzle

Find Your Piece of the Heart of God Puzzle

I was teaching my “Discover Your Destiny” class, and before we started a student came up, completely distraught.

“There is so much to do in the world,” she said. “I get overwhelmed when I think about it!”

“You don’t have to do it all,” I explain. “You just need to do YOUR piece of the puzzle.”

Her fears, about trying to decide on her purpose in life, are common. Many people feel that there is so much to be accomplished in the world, and so many needs, that they can never meet them all.

That’s right. You can’t.

But you don’t have to do it all. Read More

No mosquito bites! Diane’s All natural mosquito repellant recipe.

Posted by | Devotions | No Comments

NOmosquitoWell, it is the week of July 4th, officially mosquito season…

Mosquitos are not fun, and can be very dangerous as well. They carry many diseases, some of them fatal.

SO, if the mosquitos seem to love to bite you – like they do me – then try my new summer all natural mosquito repellant.

A friend at church told me about Lavender Oil, and I had previously read about Coconut Oil, so I decided to combine them, and give it a try.

Here is my recipe:

Diane’s All natural mosquito repellant.

You will need:

Coconut Oil (I use LouAna brand from my grocery store or big box store)

Lavender Essential oil (I got mine online last year, but most health food stores have it)

Small glass or plastic container (I bought a plastic one at the dollar store. Be sure it is able to hold 1/4 cup or more – or make a smaller amount)

Mix ingredients together in a small container:

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

5 – 10 drops of Lavender Essential oil. (Depending on how strong you want it to be)

That’s it! Easy as can be!

Now, just rub the mixture on any exposed skin before you go outside.

It is great for your skin and keeps the mosquitos away. I have been using it this summer & it has worked great for me!

Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!

I hope you have a fun July 4th weekend with family and friends – and NO mosquitos!

24 Hour Worship Center

24 Hour Worship Center

YWAM Hollywood is all moved in, and has begun our partnership in May with Radiance International to launch a 24 hour worship center in the heart of Hollywood.

We are working together to establish a 24/7 Center of Worship in Hollywood to usher in the Presence of the Lord to our city.

Our shared facility is dedicated to night and day prayer in Hollywood to pray for the seven spheres of culture that our YWAM International Founder, Loren Cunningham, originally defined. (Family, Government, Business, Education, and Church – with our special emphasis on Media, and Arts and Entertainment).

Our offices will also serve as a training center for our YWAM schools, as well as for the Body of Christ in Hollywood to utilize to transform society for Jesus.

Come and join us for worship services and prayer times!

On the Red Carpet…

When you are working as a church ministry in Hollywood, many days are filled with the ‘mundane’ tasks of planning services, and the administration necessary when running a church ministry.

Some days feel more glamorous than others…

More like Hollywood…

Last month we had one of those fun days partnering with the MOVIEGUIDE® for their big Awards event.

We love to partner with other Christian organizations in Hollywood to help their vision for this city and the industry to be successful. Sometimes that means setting up chairs for event, or helping to distribute fliers…

This time it meant we got to get all dressed up in gowns (or suits) and hang out on the red carpet with some Hollywood famous actors, actresses, producers and directors.

The Movie Guide Awards are dedicated to honoring the studio executives, producers, directors, actors and writers of MOVIEGUIDE®’s ‘Best of the Year’ movies. They encourage movies and television programs that positively impact the world community.

What are you doing this month to encourage those making movies and television programs that positively impact the world?

On the set…

One of the things we do in Hollywood it pray.

And sometimes we get to pray on the set…

We had the fun opportunity of being part of the cast for a new Lifetime film about the romance & engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

“William & Kate” tells the story of how the friendship between Prince William, and Kate Middleton, blossomed into a romantic love affair.

The film chronicles the history of William and Kate — from the moment they met at Scotland’s prestigious University of St. Andrews, through the ups and downs of their nine-year courtship.

We had a great day meeting lots of people associated with the movie, and praying for the other actors and actresses.

When the move comes out, you’ll have to look REALLY hard to see us… We’re just part of the crowd at the fashion show, and attendees at the party…

But, as you watch the film, we encourage you to pray for Hollywood!
