In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6 – NASB
Recently, I noticed my car was pulling a bit to the right, which is better than pulling to the left, into traffic, but still is not as it should be.
That means my car has issues. It needs an alignment. When your car pulls right or left at the same time that you’re trying to make it go straight, then you’ve got issues. And it means you need to get your car to a place that does alignments.
Basically, an alignment “will make your [car’s] path straight,” like in today’s Bible verse.
It’s pretty common to need an alignment for your car. You need your car realigned because it’s been out doing what cars do – driving on bumpy roads, hitting potholes, and going over an occasional curb. Stuff like that knocks your car out the alignment.
The problem is, if you don’t get your car realigned, it throws everything off. The longer it goes on, the worse the damage. Including destroying our tires & then causing problems in many other areas.
Kind of like in our lives.
If I don’t stay in alignment with God’s word, then my life has issues. It needs an alignment. When my life veers off track, to the right or left, at the same time that I’m trying to make it go straight, then I’ve got issues. And it means I need to get myself to a place that does alignments.
So, today I’m going to spend time in God’s word. We all need to spend time in God’s word everyday. We can also spend time with others studying God’s word at church or in a home group.
So, why spend time everyday in God’s word?
We need an alignment! You see, God’s word is the place we get realigned. It is the place that has the truth of God.
When we get off course it is usually because we are not agreeing with God & acknowledging that His, way is the right way. Instead, we are believing a lie from the enemy. And when we agree with the lies of the enemy our whole life can get off track really quick. Our mind begins to build new pathways that are based on the lie, and we align our behavior & our actions with the lie.
It’s pretty common to need an alignment for your life. You need realigned because you’ve been out doing what people do – living on bumpy roads, hitting potholes, and going over an occasional curb. Just living daily life can knock you out of alignment.
Just like when your car is out of alignment, the longer this goes on, the worse the damage. Including destroying your health due to the toxins released into your body because of the lie in your mind. It can not only destroy your health, it can cause problems in many other areas of your life, like your relationships, and your destiny…
Our daily disciplines – like spending time in prayer, worship, and in God’s word, are the way we stay aligned with God.
I’m always amazed at how many places sell tires, but don’t do alignments. Why would you get new tires and not get an alignment? Why would a shop do one & not the other?
Well, I asked the mechanic putting on my new tires, “Why do you sell tires, but don’t do alignments?” He said that alignments are much more difficult to do than putting on new tires. It takes different equipment. It takes more training. It takes precision and the right tools. He said that he doesn’t have the equipment or the training or the tools.
The good news is that God’s Word, worshipping God, journaling, prayer, thankfulness, giving, and being in fellowship with other believers in God’s church, are all part of the right equipment & tools to get you realigned.
Remember, alignments aren’t hard, it just means that sometimes we need new equipment or more training to learn how to use the right tools.
Maybe you need a major realignment, or maybe you need some new equipment, training, and tools. If so, consider signing up for our on-line schools, or listening to our podcast devotionals. I would also suggest you read my books in the “Master Your Mind – Rebuild Your Brain” Series, to learn more about how to align your mind & your life with God.
And be sure to find a church group that has the equipment, training and tools to help you stay aligned with God.
