When we think of profitability we usually think of finances. But God shows is that profitability is more than making a profit with money. Let me give you an example.
Each morning I do four things. Two are profitable for my life now and for my eternal life. One is sometimes financially profitable, and the last one often leads me to despair about world events, which is not profitable in any way.
Here’s my profitable & unprofitable morning routine…
1. Read my Bible
2. Do my devotions
3. Check the Stock market
4. Read the newsfeed
The two that are always profitable for me are: Reading my bible and doing my devotion.
The stockmarket is sometimes financially profitable, and sometimes not.
The newsfeed is usually full of bad news that often leads me to fight for my hope to be restored. I try to redeem it by praying for world events, but it often leaves me emotionally depleted.
These are not the four keys to a profitable life. Some are profitable, some are not.
But the Bible is always profitable!
Four keys to a profitable life are found in today’s verse in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
Why is the bible is profitable to us? It breaths life into us because it has the breath of God in it! It is active and alive! All scripture adds to our life, in contrast to so much in the world that brings bad news and death.
Holy Scripture is a great way to live a profitable life as it renews your life and strength. It also profits you eternally, which is even more important!
What are the four ways the bible is profitable to us?
The Bible is profitable for:
1. Teaching
2. Reproof
3. Correction
4. Training in righteousness
The Bible pours life and strength into us. It teaches us, reproofs us, corrects us, and trains us in righteousness.
